Arabian Nites- Jilbab review

So I bought a jilbab last month (I think) from Arabian Nites, it's a shop in East London under East London Mosque & The London Muslim Centre. It's an amazing shop and I love going in there, the jilbabs in there are totally my style, elegant and modest with a twist. Only problem is that they're really expensive, sometimes I think as nice as the jilbabs are they are not worth the price, but it's a great place to shop if you're treating yourself (or a friend/relative), for special occasions such as Eid and Weddings.

I bought this black jilbab from there because I really wanted something I could wear over my party outfit if I was going to someones house for dinner or even for special occasions so that I could wear it to the venue over my clothes. Ever since I got it I can't stop wearing it, it has come in so handy and I always think that if I'm actually wearing it then it was worth the money.

The jilbab buttons up at the front and has bead work motifs on the sleeves, top of the hood and at the back, it comes with pockets and a belt which can be tied at the back to adjust the size and fitting. The hood is attached with buttons so you can take it off if you're not going to wear it, this one also has some subtle silver piping at the back, at the wrists and along the rim of the hood, which jazzes it up a bit.

This is a great outfit to dress up or dress down an outfit, it actually makes a plain coloured jilbab worn underneath look ready for an evening out or dinner with friends. The fabric is like normal Saudi abaya material and very high quality, it's wide and flowey without looking like you're drowning in it.

So all in all I'm glad I bought this jilbab, they always have amazing new stock and it's definitely worth going to during their sales.

My obsession with hijabs- Hijab Obsessions reveiw

Assalaamu alaikum all!

So this is another review for one of my all time fave hijab companies 'Hijab Obsessions' I received two of their hijabs, a jersey shimmer scarf and a two in one jersey scarf, check out the pics and the review below!

So the grey and black jersey hijab is an interesting concept, it is two coloured jersey hijabs stitched together. I love hijabs that you can wear in different ways because it makes you think creatively and you can wear the same hijab and nobody would realise. Everyone that saw me wearing this hijab thought it was really cool because it looked like I was wearing 2 hijabs but it was actually just one. The fabric as always with this company was amazing and easy to wrap and drape.

The second hijab was this shimmer jersey hijab, it is a white/silver scarf which has a subtle shimmer to it. This scarf is much softer and lighter than your ordinary jersey hijab and is quite sheer so I would recommend a white under scarf and white turtleneck to be worn underneath, this would also make the shimmer stand out. When I wore this scarf I automatically thought it would be great to wear to a wedding and could actually even be used as a bridal hijab with a few accessories.

As always the customer service from Hijab Obsessions is brilliant and I love speaking to the sister that runs it. You can now order straight from their new website along with some really cool new products, so definitely check it out!!

OOTD- parties, engagements, food & family

Salaam girls,

long time no post hey? Did ya miss me? =P jk, I've been a bit busy with my thesis which is due this Monday, alhamdulillah I'm almost done just got to do referncing and then print it...soooo I thought I would upload an outfit of the day post of what I wore to a little family get together at my cousins.

Also last week my aunts brother was getting engaged and in bengali engagements the grooms family sends gifts to the bride, including clothes with accessories as well as food platters and other stuff, it's a small thing (sometimes the bride & groom aren't even present) and we didn't go to the actual engagement but we just made the gifts to send, it's good fun and an excuse for all the girls to get together and get creative...with food usually lol. Anyway enjoy!

My Scarf Boutique is set up by myself to accommodate Muslims wearing hijaabs and non Muslims who love wearing scarves. My target is every scarf loving female who has a passion for fashion yet likes to be modest.

I love the vintage look and my scarves have and will have a regal elegance to them. I am in the process of designing some unique lace scarves in a variety of colours plus velvet print scarves, then concentrating on occasional wear for the party season.

The accessories and jewellery will go hand in hand and compliment the scarves that I will stock so one can purchase everything to enhance one's outfit in one go at My Scarf Boutique.

Soooo without further a do here are some pictures of the scarves I got and what I thought of them:
Spring stars

This is a very cool looking scarf, when I first saw it the stars really caught my eye. Different colours in this hijab would be awesome! The hijab has a jaggered edge finish. Out of the three scarves it isn't the softest and also not the easiest to wear, but with a bit of patience you can get it to wrap well. The stars are quite subtle so it's not a really in your face scarf that draws attention, which I love.

Rose Garden

I really like this abstract colourful flower hijab, it can be worn as a statement piece with darker colours, definitely adds a splash of colour to any outfit. It is softer than the purple star hijab and so easier to wrap. The size of the hijab is very good for generous coverage and folds.

Animal mix- Beige/Teal

Of the three I received this hijab has got to be my favourite, is is really soft and I absolutely adore the colours and pattern. This hijab is very me, it's a good size (some companies call the sizes of these maxi hijabs) Easy to wrap and looks beautiful especially for spring!

So what do I think of the company?

Well they are fairly new and don't have much variety just yet so I'm keen to see what else they stock in the future iA. All of the hijabs above are priced at £7 which I think is an ok price of the size of the scarves. The customer service was impeccable, the sister I spoke to replied to all my messages promptly and just overall really lovely mashaAllah.

I'd definitely recommend this company to sisters looking for hijabs with more coverage and those looking for something light and airy for spring/summer.

Check out their facebook page for more hijabs below iA!
