5 clever inventions a girl needs

I've recently come across some pretty cool inventions that have made me go 'I think I need that!' so I thought I would share with you some of my discoveries. Some of these (the first 2) are pretty over priced in my opinion but the invention is pretty cool.

5- High Heel protector

Ever gone to an outdoor wedding or party wearing high heels and get that sinking feeling? I have, so when I came across this cool invention to stop your heels sinking into the grass, I thought wow that's a really good idea!

How it all started.

When Becca Brown was 17 years old, she, like so many other young women, was being photographed before her high school prom. Wearing heels for the first time in her life, she stood – or at least attempted to stand, in her parents’ front yard for the photo shoot. When the wobbling became a distraction, she and her friends decided to forgo the awkwardness and take the picture on the front steps of the house. It was at this moment that Becca thought to herself that there must be a better way for women to stand in the grass in heels.

Fast-forward about ten years, and Becca & Monica were sitting next to each other at Columbia Business School. When it came time to write a business plan in one of their classes, Becca shared her long guarded idea to create a product for high heels to protect them and prevent them from sinking into the grass. Monica, then in her mid-twenties was in the throws of wedding-fever. She was averaging ten to fifteen weddings a year and since at least half of them were taking place outside, she was very aware of the hazards that had befallen her shoes. The sensation of sinking into the grass – the feeling of helplessness as the heel ripped through the earth and became dirt encrusted was among her biggest annoyances.

Relating immediately to Becca’s frustration, the two friends set out to create a product that would finally put an end to this costly and distracting problem. And so was born the SoleMates High Heeler®!
Their dream became a reality in the summer of 2008 when they launched their website and began to sell the product in one color and one size. As demand grew, and customer feedback became more dynamic, Becca & Monica rolled out new colors and new sizes. They didn’t want anyone to have to ruin their shoes or lose their balance when in high heels.

4- Beauty Blender- Sponge make-up applicator

I first saw Sr Amena of Pearl-Daisy use this strange egg shaped object in a video she did out in India, at the time I didn't know what it was, but recently whilst browsing YouTube makeup tutorials (as you do) I came across it again and from the reviews it looks quite interesting....The original beauty blender is quite pricey and would I spend that much money on a sponge? Probably not so I would just order a dupe off ebay...I mean it's just a sponge =|

How it works

Blend your way to a flawless face!
Seeing make up is the first sign of an amateur application. Beautyblender was created without edges in order to eliminate visible lines and streaks. So go ahead, experiment fearlessly with your Beautyblender and discover the many ways its unique shape will set you free!

Bounce Beautyblender against your face when applying make up.
Bouncing, called stippling in the make up world, blends make up without creating changes in the texture or tone of your skin. Use Beutyblender's pointed side for hard-to-reach spots like around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes. Use the round base for foundation and blush on the larger areas of your face such as your forehead, cheeks and chin.
If you apply make up with your fingers you'll find that Beautyblender will smooth and refine your make up to provide a clean finish.

Use Beautyblender damp when applying wet/dry make up.
When Beautyblender is wet it is normal for it to expand to nearly twice its original size. Wash after use and place in the Beautyblender insert pedestal to dry. Beautyblender should not come in contact with extreme heat of any kind.

If you have problem skin Beautyblender works to cover blemishes.
Use the pointed end and the stipple and twist technique to work make up into depressed areas of the face. The stippling and twisting action feathers out the make up's edges, leaving a perfect finish.

3- Peel off nail polish

I actually have a couple of these and when I came across them it was just the thing I was looking for. So why is this such a cool invention? Because as Muslims we must make wudhu and pray 5 times a day and wearing normal nail polish invalidates the wudhu (ablution) because the water doesn't reach the nail, you could always make wudhu and then put the nail polish on or take the nail polish off with nail polish remover and then make wudhu but that can be a hassle sometimes. The peel off nail polish is super easy to remove because as the name says you just peel it off and it takes less than 5 seconds per nail and it comes off in one piece (check out a previous post I did on this nail polish).

I have tried the Andrea Fulerton peel off nail polish and there isn't a huge variety of colours and not all the colours are that nice, this is the only brand I've come across in the UK (available in superdrugs) but I know there are some other ones around for example the brands 'sula' and 'essence'....obviously the bad thing about it is that it isn't very durable because it tends to peel if you accidentally scrape your nail against something.

2- Ring Snuggies

My fingers are really skinny so it's really hard to find rings that fit (unless they're adjustable, which is another cool invention in itself). I don't have any ring snuggies but have in the past used thread to tie around the back of the ring in order for it to fit (if you have skinny fingers you know what I'm talking about.

1- The Ninja Scarf

This last invention has probably been around for a while and I have been telling myself that I will get one because it just makes life so much easier for a hijabi.

The idea of a 'ninja' scarf is to cover your hair and neck all in one rather than having an under scarf and a turtleneck pinned to it. It's great because it covers you and allows you to wear thin scarves without worrying about being exposed. There are loads of online hijab stores selling this or something similar with variations in design so I wont leave a specific link (just google it). I will however, leave a little description of a similar ninja scarf available at hijab-ista.

This is designed to cover the head AND the neck all in one!!

The Ninja Inner is a great solution to your low cut neck lines and a wonderful alternative to Turtle necks!!

Enjoy wearing these with your loose draped Hijab styles, Thin Scarves, or your Turban/Spaniard looks!

So many possibilities!!!

Made from Polyester material it is extra comfortable and light!

More examples of hijab styles that you can do with a ninja inner scarf
So that brings my clever inventions post to an end. I hope you enjoyed reading about my finds and leave some feedback about any clever inventions you've come across!
