The Islamic Greeting Card Store- Eid Cards Review

Another review today...! Of some products from the awesomeness that is The Islamic Greeting Card Store =D

I've reviewed this company before and still love the company and their product, you can check out that review here http://ihijabi.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/islamic-greeting-card-store-review.html

The Islamic Greeting Card Store specialises in greeting cards for all occasions, from Wedding, Hajj/Umrah to congratulations for completing the Quran and random cards to just show your appreciation to your loved ones. They have sent me this years Eid card designs to show you guys and tell you what I think....

This year they have released 6 brand spanking new designs that are unique to them (that means you cannot find these designs anywhere else!). You can buy these cards at £1.50 each, which by my standards is really affordable, or as a pack of 6 (one of each design) for £6.99, saving you even more money.

The quality of these cards are, as always, super mashaAllah, (they're not those flimsy cheap cards) and they are made from FSC/PEFC which makes them eco-friendly (think sustainable forests)...how can you not love a company that does their bit for the environment?

ANYWAY, enough of my rambling here are the cards!

The variety in the designs means there is something for everyone, for your spouse, your friends and even young children.

The inside of the cards are blank so you can write your own message (and not have one of those cheesy pre-written messages) and all but one of the cards have a du'a written on the front
"Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum!- May Allah swt, accept it (our good deeds) from us and you!"
And that's what celebrating Eid is all about, it's a day to recognise all the good deeds we have done this Ramadan and pray that Allah accepts it and continues to bless us with all the good that has come from it.

What's even more amazing in terms of saving money is that there is FREE postage and packaging for all UK orders, but hurry because the last day to make your orders to make sure you receive your cards before Eid is Monday the 5th of August.

You can purchase your cards here -> http://theislamicgreetingcardstore.co.uk/eidcards.html

And follow their facebook page for updates, discounts, giveaways etc etc -> https://www.facebook.com/IslamicGreetingCardStore?fref=ts

I pray that you all have a blessed end to the month and remember me in your precious du'as in this last 10 days.

Happy shopping!

ZokiPins - Hijab pins review

Finally on annual leave from work so I can get on with all the posts I've been meaning to publish over the last month or so.

Today I will be reviewing a company called ZokiPins who specialise in exquisite hand crafted hijab pins. Some of you who follow me on instagram [ ihijabi_blog ] will have seen some sneak previews of the pins which I tried out on my mum (if you don't follow my instagram then you're totally missing out =P).

Firstly what I liked about the company when I opened the box is their creative way of sharing their business cards, the pins came in separate organza pouches with the business cards attached with a purple ribbon on each bag. The white and purple running colour theme gives the whole thing a sleek, sophisticated and professional look with all the finishing touches, which I absolutely adore!

The next thing  that caught my eye was the attention to detail when it came to the pins.

This Eleganza pin part of their limited edition collection demonstrates the detail in the pins perfectly .

Now some closer up pictures of the pins I was sent....

The Tibet

Fine China

Bali

My favourite pin of the three would have to be the Tibet, part of the limited edition, due to its intricate patterns and elegant style. The pins are long & sturdy, so it's not fiddly when you're trying to secure your scarf and the stopper at the end is closed off to prevent the sharp end of the pin coming through (which can be dangerous). The head of the pins are not small so if you're looking for something that is not too flashy but does add a visible statement to your scarf then these are for you.

Starting at only £3 these pins would make the ideal Eid gift for your friends and family.

Check out all of their designs on their website www.zokipins.co.uk

And don't forget to follow them on facebook Facebook.com/ZokiHijabPins and Twitter Twitter.com/zokipins

Use code ramadan20 at the checkout for 20% off your order to save even more money on your Eid gifts!

What do you think of these hijab pins? Let us know in a comment below.

The UMW show 2013- Part 2 - Stalls, speakers & FOOD!

Salaam all and Ramadan Kareem!!

I finally found a little bit of time in my busy schedule of work, eat, sleep, pray & other worship. So I decided to fulfil my promise and finish my coverage of the Urban Muslim Woman Show 2013. In this part I will share the rest of my photo's a feedback for the event that took place last month.

Warning: Image heavy post

Stalls

What better way to keep women occupied than with shopping? As we walked into the venue we were met with a warm atmosphere and the place buzzing with excitement and activity. There were loads of lovely stalls showcasing businesses run by women. It was lovely to see so many successful and talented women under one roof with truly unique businesses.

I stood and spoke to sister Syeda Sadiq for a while. She is a really lovely sister who is trying to set up her own tax and accounting business. MashaAllah here is a link to her website for more info if you are interested or know anyone who is. http://www.syedasadiq.co.uk/

Met this really friendly sister from Taniya khan Hair & Makeup, had the pleasure of watching the artists do their magic live.

FX cosmetics

I met the owner of this stall who creates these beautiful Islamic prints which you can get in a frame or as a canvas. Another lovely sister who does some really impressive work, check out her facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/WanderBazaar Great products that would make ideal Eid gifts!

Aab

Aquaini- Were showcasing their bestselling Muslimah swimsuit, mashAllah their stall had a lot of interest too.

These beautiful pieces by Barakah were really impressive, I would have never have thought of art on kitchenware but again this stall just shows that art if you can think it up it can be done, amazing pieces that would look great in any display cabinet or dinner table. http://livingwithbaraka.blogspot.co.uk/

Unfortunately I didn't get the names/links for all the stalls, so if there is a picture of your stall above and you would like me to link to your website/facebook page, leave a message in the comments section below with which picture and your link (=

Speakers

During the event there were various speakers that spoke to the audience about different aspects of life that affect Muslim women. I got to meet the lovely Amena Khan from Pearl Daisy and Lauren Booth both of whom are lovely women mashaAllah and it was a pleasure speaking to and meeting them.

When I met the lovely Amena!

The awesome venue

Very fancy eh?

Quick pictures before the start of the event. Amena promoting Sara Shamsavari's book.

Our host - Shemiza Rashid

Co-host- Amena

Second Co-host- Sara Shamsavari

Rimla Akhtar gave a really inspirational talk about sport and Muslim women in sport. Much respect to this amazing lady, she even got me thinking that I should get into sport after her talk (and I'm not a very sporty person)

Shemiza Rashid interviewing Amena on the stage in between the fashion shows.

Haslina Mohd Ali director of Sri Munawarah design.

Aina Khan is a leading UK solicitor who specialises in Islamic family law, she gave a very beneficial talk on the rights of Muslim women in marriage and divorce. Her talk was very informative and an excellent reminder. Making sure women know their rights is the first step to empowering women.

Always love Lauren Booth's talks and this one did not disappoint mashaAllah. Lauren Booth is also known as ex UK prime minister (Tony Blair)'s sister in law, she is one inspirational lady and has done extraordinary work in Palestine and around the world.

Food

So I couldn't leave the post without showing you some pictures of the truly delicious food could I? I apologise if you are still fasting, just looking at these pictures is making my mouth water....!

The food was absolutely amazing and I wouldn't expect any less from such a prestigious event. It was a proper 3 course meal and not one of those meals that you get in a little takeaway box. The whole event was well worth the price of the tickets.

I would like to end by giving some credit to the official photographers the lovely sister from Pari Khan photography https://www.facebook.com/parikhanphotography & Nazia Mumtaz photography and all the volunteers who made this event a success. More often than not the people behind the scenes don't get much credit for their hard work so well done and thank you to everyone behind the scenes as well!

Hope you all enjoyed my coverage for this event and I look forward to an even bigger and better event next year inshaAllah (=
